PAINTING & MEMORY
I’m always trying to find the space between detail and interest in painterliness and atmosphere. In my painting process I eek to translate and explore images drawn from my archive collection of photographs of movie stills, actresses the 'Golden Age of Hollywood', art history and other found sources. I spent a decade working with material culture and fine art, and images of my home town history come from that time. Working with Archives is a passion and I was thrilled to work with Andy Kirk, Oxford University Press and the Atomic Testing Museum, Las Vegas, in 2013-15 to explore the visual culture of the testing era.
